Street

Boden: Truck 81, Squad 3, report! Anyone from House 51, report!

Building

Boden: Report! Somebody report! Casey, report! Ambo 61, come in! Truck 81, Squad Three, report! Mayday! Mayday emergency! Mayday emergency! Anyone from House 51, report! Report!

Severide: Hey, Chief! Severide here. Roof collapsed. We'll need assistance.

Capp: What the hell happened?

Severide: Propane tanks from the top floor. Squatters cooking on open flames. I jumped for the stairwell.

Newhouse: Yeah, me too.

Severide: All right... Spread out. Get eyes on everyone… Hey, Casey! You copy?

Casey: Yeah. Down here.

Severide: You okay?

Casey: Think so.

Severide: All right, we're coming down.

Otis: You okay?

Cruz: Yeah.

Herrmann: Over here! Man down!

Otis: Oh, God. Mills.

Herrmann: Easy, easy. Come on.

Severide: Easy, Mills. Easy.

Mills: My leg!

Casey: Calm down, Mills. Just breathe. Let's make him a splint. Dawson? Shay? Come in.

Severide: Hey, Chief. Mills may have a fractured leg.

Boden: We got more of everything coming. Can you get him out of there?

Severide: I think so.

Mills: Ah!

Casey: Breathe.

Boden: Any eyes on Dawson or Shay? I can't reach them.

Severide: Shay! Call out!

Casey: Dawson? Shay?

Newhouse: Let's get you out of here. Ready?

Mills: Yeah.

Newhouse: On three, all right? Let's do it. One... Two... Three. Go, go! Come on.

Severide: Dawson! Shay!

Dawson: Come on, Shay. Come on.

Severide: Shay!

Dawson: One, two, three, four.

Severide: Shay! Shay!

Dawson: Blow to the head. Compressions. Switch on three with me. Ready? One... Two... Three.

Severide: Come on, Shay. Come on, Shay! Come on, Shay! No, no, no. No. No. No. No.

Casey: Let's get her to the ambulance.

Dawson: No.

Casey: Gab...

Dawson: Let go of me!

Casey: Gabby!

Severide: Hang on! Hold on! Shay.

Casey: Gabby.

Severide: No! Shay! Shay!

Firehouse: garage (past)

Cruz: I am telling you that you are wasting your money.

Otis: Bah!

Cruz: Nobody... And by nobody I specifically mean women... Care about dumb outer space props.

Otis: But this is an original viper worn by Dirk Benedict. At 300 bucks, trust me, it's a steal.

Cruz: Listen to yourself.

Shay: Hey.

Cruz: Hello.

Shay: Hi. Uh, I'm looking for Dawson.

Otis: Ow. Oh, right. Hey... Hey, Darden. You seen Dawson yet?

Darden: Yeah. Let me grab her.

Cruz: So, uh... Where'd you come from?

Shay: Originally, um, St. Louis.

Cruz: Ah, I meant what firehouse?

Shay: Oh, right. Um... Logan Square. 87th. Yeah, I was there a couple years.

Cruz: Cool.

Shay: Yeah.

Dawson: Hey. Leslie Shay.

Shay: Hey.

Dawson: Dawson, Gabriela.

Shay: Hi. I've, uh... I've heard like a million good things about you.

Dawson: All lies. Come on. I'll show you around.

Shay: Okay.

Dawson: Oh, so that's Cruz and Otis. They're totally harmless, trust me. I mean, they're gonna ask you out, but...

Shay: Oh, no, no, no, I'm...

Dawson: This is Vargas... Herrmann, and Lieutenant Casey.

Casey: Hi.

Shay: Hi.

Dawson: Oh, this is Leslie Shay, the new paramedic.

Shay: Hey.

Herrmann: Great to meet you, Leslie.

Shay: You can call me Shay.

Herrmann: All right.

Vargas: Welcome to 51, Shay.

Shay: Thank you.

Casey: The only advice I can give you is, uh... Don't let Dawson drive the rig.

Dawson: Hey.

Casey: Hey… Seriously.

Shay: So you and Casey are...?

Dawson: What? No. No, Jeez.

Shay: Oh, really? You should be.

Severide: I don't know. It was just a thing. End of story: Manfredi ended up moving out, and I need a new roommate. Hopefully by, you know, before next month's rent's due.

Shay: I've been looking for a roommate… I'm serious. I just went through a breakup thing, and we could barely afford the place, so, I don't know...

Severide: Yeah?

Shay: Whoa. Put it back in your pants, Lieutenant. You're not my type.

Severide: You never know.

Shay: Do you have a vagina? I'm gay. Fully gay. Yeah. My drink's tequila.

Severide: Kelly Severide.

Shay: Leslie Shay.

Firehouse: garage (six weeks later)

Herrmann: Hey, Otis. Can I get you to do the, uh, bank run tomorrow? I got a doohickey at the in-laws.

Otis: Herrmann... One thing you'll never have to worry about is asking me to take money to the bank for Molly's.

Herrmann: From your lips to God's ears. Ah-ha! Look who's here!

Mills: Ay!

Herrmann: Peter Mills!

Mills: I'm back.

Herrmann: Woo!

Mills: I have never been so happy to see so many ugly faces.

Boden: I am surprised to see you.

Mills: Cast came off. They cleared me. Hinted I should wait another week, but I am done staring at ceilings.

Boden: Well maybe you should listen to them.

Mills: I am 100%, Chief. I'm good as new.

Boden: Great to have you back.

Mills: Any word from Severide?

Dawson: Hey, sorry, Chief. I had an appointment that ran long. Peter Mills.

Mills: Hey, Gabby.

Dawson: Hey. You good?

Mills: Good as new.

Dawson: Cool, well, uh... Welcome back.

Mills: How is she?

Firehouse: kitchen

Mouch: If I have special dietary concerns, does the kitchen take that into account? Uh, like, I don't like mushrooms. Okay, I see. We will see you then. Some of these fancier places get offended, so I like to get it out in the open.

Dawson: What?

Mouch: Nothing.

Brett: Gabriela Dawson?

Dawson: Uh, Yeah. That's me.

Brett: Sylvie Brett. I'm your new paramedic on 61?

Dawson: I'm sorry. Um... I've been partnered with Chout. I thought he was gonna be assigned here permanently.

Brett: I just go where they tell me.

Dawson: Uh, yeah, well... Welcome.

Brett: Sylvie.

Firehouse: Boden’s office

Boden: Uh, take a seat.

Dawson: Again, I'm sorry I was late, Chief.

Boden: Don't worry about it. I want to thank you sincerely for giving me these last six weeks on the ambulance. I know you could've taken your firefighter assignment and started at 105, but... This house needed stability, and you... Meant the world to me.

Dawson: Of course, Chief. Always.

Boden: Uh... So I'm letting you know I am putting through your paperwork so you can resume your placement at 105.

Dawson: Oh, okay. Okay, good. Thank you, Chief.

Boden: Hmm. How you doing, Gabby? I want you to know you can talk to me...

Mouch: Hey there, Wallace. Chief.

Dawson: Hey, Chief, thank you. Um, I'm gonna get back to it.

Boden: Yeah.

Mouch: Just letting you know we are wheels up for dinner at 7:30.

Boden: Great.

Mouch: You and Donna want to carpool over with Trudy and me?

Boden: Uh, no. We'll meet you there.

Mouch: Groovy… One more thing. Just so it doesn't get uncomfortable when the bill comes, can we agree we'll go Dutch on this one?

Boden: You invited us, Mouch. You made a big to-do about taking us out.

Mouch: I know. I know. But this is one of those fancy, valet-parking, men's room...

Boden: You know what? Dutch.

Mouch: Excellent.

Firehouse: kitchen

Casey: Hey. You heard from Severide?

Capp: Nada.

Mills: Didn't he have furlough stored up?

Casey: A month, maybe. That ran out a week ago.

Capp: We've all left messages, but nothing.

Casey: Yeah. Same.

Cruz: Lieutenant?

Casey: Yeah.

Cruz: We need fuel.

Casey: Load everyone up.

Gaze station

Herrmann: I've been thinking.

Otis: Uh-oh.

Herrmann: You know Chili's?

Mouch: Where the blossoms are awesome?

Herrmann: Shay kept telling me that they started with just one restaurant in Dallas in an old post office building. And she'd say the only thing that was holding Molly's back was small thinking. And I didn't wanna listen 'cause I believed that we had all the time in the world.

Cruz: So, uh... Wait, you been, uh, researching this?

Herrmann: Yeah. I have. Do you know how many restaurants Chili's has now?

Otis: You talking about expansion?

Herrmann: Darn right.

Otis: Oh, boy. Here comes Welch.

Cruz: I hate that guy.

Herrmann: Their whole truck stinks to high heaven.

Casey: Hey. Can it, guys… Welch.

Tommy Welch: Sup, Matt?

Casey: You guys come from the Walnut Street Fire?

Tommy Welch: Yep.

Casey: Heard the call on the radio. How was it?

Tommy Welch: It was rolling.

Casey: Good.

Tommy Welch: Hey. How's what's-her-name doing? Dawson? You be sure and send her our love.

Main: Truck 81, Truck 66, Squad Three, Ambo 61. House fire.

Otis: First truck on the scene's in charge.

Main: 5056 West Maypole Avenue.

Tommy Welch: Go. Go!

Casey: Cruz. I do not want to get there behind these guys.

Cruz: On it.

Street

Casey: Oh-ho! First on scene. You're on rit and handle traffic control. Check things out.

Geneva: Bruno! Bruno! My son, Bruno!

Casey: Where is he?

Geneva: He's in the basement! I couldn't get to him!

Casey: Is there anyone else in there?

Geneva: No, it's just the two of us!

Casey: Here. Get her out of here.

Herrmann: Come on, come on, come on. We got him, we got him. Go, go.

House

Casey: Fire Department! Call out!

Bruno: Help me!

Casey: Bruno! Bruno! Can you move?

Bruno: Help me!

Casey: Hold on! Hold on… Need assistance in the basement! I got a victim down here...

Bruno: Help me! Help me!

Casey: Hey. Hey!

Bruno: I can't breathe!

Casey: You're gonna be okay… Welch, over here.

Tommy Welch: Let's get you out of here, big boy.

Casey: Take him up!

Street

Otis: One two three, lift. Step coming up, guys.

Herrmann: I got it.

Otis: Got it?

Dawson: Bring him on the stretcher!

Cruz: One two three, lift. One two three, lift. Good.

Dawson: Good.

Brett: Struggling to breathe. Sir, I'm gonna need you to calm down, okay? I need you to try and relax, all right? I need you to take slow, deep breaths.

Dawson: All right, pass me the kit… You know how to intubate a burn victim?

Brett: I do. We just didn't have a ton of...

Dawson: Watch. For fire victims... They get a lot of swelling in the trachea. So we knock them out with midazolam to help secure the airway. Pushing… Okay, tube? Push past the swollen vocal cords. Can't be gentle. Can't be afraid. Let's bag him… Check for lung sounds.

Brett: You're in.

Dawson: Let's go.

Brett: Can I drive?

Dawson: You gotta earn that.

Casey: Listen... Thanks. That was good work.

Tommy Welch: Yeah, thanks for roping in when you were dumb enough to go into a basement by yourself? No problem.

Casey: You know I came over here to say...

Tommy Welch: Hey, Molina, I got a question for you. You sleeping with Casey here so I gotta be nice to you, too?

Casey: Hey.

Boden: That's it. Yeah? Enough. Hey! You. Pack up your truck. Leave the area.

Tommy Welch: Let's go!

Boden: You too… Pack up!

Firehouse: Boden’s office

Casey: I tried.

Boden: Tommy Welch is not my problem. You are a lieutenant in my house. I expect better of you. I have one lieutenant who's out AWOL and another one who can't keep his temper in check! I need leaders in this house, Casey… Now more than ever.

Casey: I hear you. Loud and clear. I'll go find Kelly.

Boden: Appreciate that.

Street (6 weeks ago)

Casey: Got a victim on the first floor. Fell down some stairs. Possible spinal injury.

Dawson: We're on it.

Building (6 weeks ago)

Casey: Looks like a fall. He's still breathing.

Dawson: Hey, Chief. Can you bring a backboard in?

Shay: Looks like his neck might be broken.

Dawson: Chief?

Shay: Give me a C-collar.

Dawson: How's his airway?

Shay: Respirations are shallow.

Dawson: Okay, so... What do you think? We intubate? Shay, come on. You're gonna have to do this without me starting next shift.

Shay: No. Not yet. We start with some rescue breaths.

Dawson: Good. Be my guest.

Shay: Okay... You know, I'll never get used to...

Firehouse: dormitory

Brett: Dawson. Yo.

Dawson: Sorry. What?

Brett: I was just asking you about the chief situation here. In Fowlerton, the chief weighed 400 pounds and never left the firehouse.

Dawson: Oh. Um... Yeah, no, uh, Boden's great. He'll be the first to dive in and help out.

Brett: Good to know. Hey. I understand you were close with Leslie Shay. I just... Want you to know I'm not trying to wear her shoes.

Dawson: Yeah. Of course… Be right back.

Firehouse: Casey’s office

Dawson: Hey.

Casey: Hey there.

Dawson: Ask me again.

Casey: Ask you what?

Dawson: To marry you. Ask me. Right here. Right now.

Casey: You should have answered the first time.

Dawson: And have that be a memory of that day? No. No thanks. I did us both a favour.

Casey: Hey... You said Shay told you we'd be great together. I choose to have that memory of that day.

Dawson: The answer's yes. The answer's always yes.

Casey: I know. But I'm gonna do it right.

Dawson: Okay.

Casey: Come here… I love you.

Dawson: I love you, too… You're always here for me.

Woods

Casey: Hey!

Severide: Hey.

Casey: How you doing?

Severide: Great.

Casey: Fish been biting?

Severide: Jumping in the boat.

Casey: Can I grab one?

Severide: Yeah, sure.

Casey: Mm. So, uh... You coming back to 51?

Severide: That house is cursed, Casey. Nothing but misery and heartbreak there. There's a guy out near Grayslake who does boat repairs. He said he'll sell me a piece of his business, so...

Casey: Pretty quiet up at Grayslake… All figured out then?

Severide: Yeah.

Casey: Well... Thanks for the beer.

Severide: Yeah. Come any time.

Casey: Hey. One more thing. Boden still writes down all the calls we go on by hand. The date, the call itself, what we did. And do you know what he writes in the column on the far left? The lives we saved. The ones that made it out alive. That we rescued… The badges... On the wall... At the Academy? Andy's. Shay's. Don't represent death. They represent the lives we save.

Severide and Shay’s apartment: living room (past)

Shay: See you later… What? Oh. Is that what we're doing? Are we being quiet? Are we being serious? What?

Severide: Fine, you want me to say it? That girl's bad news. Front page. Big headline. Bad news.

Shay: It's the only kind I know. It's part of the fun of it. You know? Who wants to go through life without some heartbreak? Whatever.

Severide: I wasn't gonna say anything. I want that on the record.

Shay: Fine. Let's make a record. A contract. On video so there'll be no confusion.

Severide: Do you even know how to work that thing?

Shay: I am the master of working this thing.

Severide: Fine. Let's do it.

Shay: All right. The contract.

Firehouse: dormitory

Otis: So, how did you end up here, Brett?

Brett: You ever see that movie Runaway Bride?

Otis: Mm.

Brett: I was engaged to the Number One regional sod seller in all of Mid-Central Indiana.

Otis: Get out of here.

Brett: Yes, it was that exciting. I knew Harrison forever. We went to elementary school together. Our families knew each other. We were supposed to get married exactly three months ago today. I stared at that abyss, and I just... Couldn't pull the trigger.

Otis: You left him at the altar?

Brett: No. A couple weeks before. Cold feet... That ran right up I-65 to Chicago… So... Here I am.

Newhouse: Hey, Mills. I, uh, I didn't want to bother you while you were rehabbing, but now that you're back...

Mills: Yeah, of course.

Newhouse: Look, I got a lead on your paternal grandfather. He's living outside of Chicago.

Mills: Um, wow. Okay.

Newhouse: You didn't know he was alive.

Mills: No, my, uh... My mother told me that his side of the family moved to Seattle. Wow.

Newhouse: Yeah, well, look. I got a family tree. It's your dad's family.

Mills: Joliet?

Newhouse: Yeah.

Mills: Oh. Thank you. I appreciate this.

Newhouse: Yeah.

Mills: What happened to your lip?

Newhouse: Uh... It's unrelated.

Restaurant

Boden: Can we, uh... Just not order dessert? Let's keep it short.

Donna Robbins: Why?

Boden: I'm not in the mood.

Donna Robbins: Wallace... You need to start reengaging outside of work… I know what happened on that day was crushing, but you know you really need to just...

Mouch: Guy on the way back! Whoa, look at this power couple.

Trudy Platt: Mu-ah! Hey, Donna, how you feeling?

Donna Robbins: Like I got two stomachs. This kid's gonna be an eater.

Trudy Platt: Well, hopefully he'll have your bone structure.

Waitress: Like to see the wine list?

Trudy Platt: Ah, thank you.

Mouch: So, guess what? I got us four tickets to Led Zepagain.

Boden: Led Zeppelin?

Mouch: No, not Zeppelin. Led Zepagain. It's a cover band. But they kill it. Seriously. Saturday night. What do you say?

Boden: I, uh, I don't know, I...

Donna Robbins: Sounds fun… Sounds fun.

Trudy Platt: I gotta hit the head, hun. Will you get us the Barolo?

Mouch: Oh. Uh, well... That's... That's a little bit out of...

Trudy Platt: She's eating for two and drinking for zero. And you know how I get on red wine. Dinner's on us.

Donna Robbins: Oh...

Trudy Platt: No arguments.

Boden: Mouch... You sure one bottle's gonna be enough?

Firehouse: kitchen

Mouch: Hey, uh, fellas? Cruz and I couldn't help but overhear that you might be looking to... Franchise Molly's? I believe the name Molly's Two was mentioned… Look, I might have been a bit hasty to brush you aside when you were looking for initial funding.

Herrmann: You laughed in my face.

Mouch: Oh, that's a bit of a...

Cruz: Okay, look... All that Mouch is trying to say is... If there's gonna be a second round of investments, we want in.

Herrmann: Uh... Let me get my emotional ducks in a row here.

Firehouse: Casey’s office

Dawson: Can we reschedule that get-together with your sister on Friday?

Casey: Uh, yeah. I suppose so. What's up?

Dawson: Uh, Antonio wants to take me to lunch.

Casey: Sure. No problem.

Dawson: Oh, um... Borden's getting my transfer paperwork started.

Casey: This place will never be the same.

Dawson: Yeah, I know.

Main: Truck 81, Squad Three, Ambulance 61. Single car accident.

Street

Capp: Mills, check the front. Newhouse, check the driver's side.

Newhouse: Got it.

Driver: Please! My wife!

Newhouse: Look, we got it under control. We're gonna get you out of here.

Mills: Yo! Hey, I got her! She's trapped under the water line!

Newhouse: Ah! Hey, Mills, go take out the back window.

Mills: I got it. Hey, Capp. Hand me your axe.

Cruz: Good.

Mills: Yo, it's not enough! Help me pull it!

Newhouse: Come on. Her leg is pinched! She's gonna drown!

Casey: How we doing on that hydrant, Chief?

Boden: They're locating the main right now.

Casey: We gotta move the vehicle off the hydrant.

Boden: Go.

Casey: Herrmann! Get the jaws.

Herrmann: Got it.

Casey: All right. Everybody line up. On my mark, we're gonna roll this thing upright off the hydrant. On three. One, two, three!

Boden: Main is shutting down the water flow.

Dawson: Too much trauma to the mouth. We can't intubate… There's no cryc kit.

Brett: Hand me that tubing and a pair of scissors.

Dawson: I haven't seen that one before.

Brett: I'll take that as a compliment.

Dawson: Where'd you learn how to do that?

Brett: Fowlerton, Indiana's right along the interstate. Lots of car accidents. Not a lot of support.

Dawson: Huh.

Ambulance 61

Dawson: Hey. Fastest way through the Loop is Lower Wacker.

Outside the firehouse

Casey: You and Antonio have been seeing a lot of each other.

Dawson: Yeah, it's... It's been a rough patch for him, too.

Casey: I know. I'm glad. Hey. He's your brother, but... If you need someone to talk to you can always talk to me.

Dawson: Yeah, of course. Yeah, I'm... I'm... I'm fine. Truly. I'll see you back at the house later.

Street

Cruz: What are you doing, Mouch?

Mouch: Waiting on Chief. We're supposed to double date tonight. I think he's been taking what happened with Shay harder than he lets on. I've been going the extra mile to cheer him up. Keep him busy.

Herrmann: I just saw him heading away on the other side.

Mouch: Really? Huh.

Outside the firehouse

Boden: Donna, I can't do this. Yes, I have it. I feel like an idiot. A Zeppelin cover band with Mouch and Platt. Take my life, please… Well right now I don't care if it's the happiest they've ever been… Yeah… You're right.

Street

Boden: Mouch. What time do you want us to pick you and Trudy up?

Mouch: Really?

Boden: Hmm.

Orlovsky’s office

Orlovsky: You know... You've been coming to see me for five straight weeks, and for five straight weeks, you've sat on that couch and said nothing… Nobody's making you come here. Which means that you want to be here. Every counselling theory I know says that I should wait for you to make the first move. That you'll tell me what you want to tell me when you're ready to tell me… But I also know first responders… And we're a different breed. We have to do things whether we're ready or not… It's okay. I can wait.

Dawson: We traded places. We... We traded places. I told her... I told her to switch with me. And she ended up right where I was standing. Where I should have been when the beam came down.

Orlovsky: Oh.

Street

Casey: Hey. Good to have you back.

Severide: Yeah.

Casey: Come on. Let's do it.

Severide and Shay’s apartment: living room

Casey: Her family will definitely want some of this stuff.

Severide: I can't stay here, man.

Casey: Why don't you stay with us for a while? We got a spare bedroom.

Severide: I don't know. I don't want to...

Casey: It's done. As long as you want.

Severide: Thanks.

Video

Severide: Is it on?

Shay: It's on.

Severide: Did you turn it on?

Shay: Okay, shut...

Severide: Are you all right?

Shay: Shut up. Shut up, you idiot. This is serious.

Severide: Okay. Okay.

Shay: Concentrate, all right? The contract...

Severide: Mm-hmm.

Shay: Rule Number One.

Severide: We promise to never get into each other's business.

Shay: Oh, okay. I have... I have that recorded.

Severide: I know. That's why I just said it.

Shay: All right.

Severide: Rule Number Two... No matter how much work gets to us...

Shay: Mm-hmm. We never bring it home. Good. Very good.

Severide: Thank you. Okay. You know what?

Shay: Mm?

Severide: That thing?

Shay: Yeah?

Severide: Here... Give it here. Your turn. Give it here… Here, here, you want some?

Shay: All right. Sure.

Severide: Take it.

Shay: All right, uh, we should also say that... No matter how much life gets to us that we shouldn't bring it to work. Because what we do is so much more important than all this.

Severide: Fair enough.

Shay: An addendum.

Severide: Got it.

Shay: Yeah.

Severide: Is that it? Any other rules?

Shay: Just one. That we, uh... That we promise to be there for each other… Always. No matter what.

Severide: Always.

Shay: Always.
