Dinner
Jennifer Sheridan: Why didn't you two just tell me you were seeing each other from the start?
Kidd: Ah... That's a... That's a good question.
Jennifer Sheridan: Well, I think it's wonderful. Chicago's such a romantic city.
Benny Severide: Mm. Went to Smyth's for dinner on Tuesday, and then the symphony last night.
Jennifer Sheridan: He dozed off in the second half.
Benny Severide: Hey, I closed my eyes so I could enjoy the music. This woman elbowed me so hard, I almost fell off my chair.
Kidd: Well, it sounds like a whirlwind week.
Jennifer Sheridan: It really has been.
Benny Severide: Hey, what are you guys doing tomorrow? Maybe we could all have dinner together.
Kidd: That... Sounds...
Severide: No, there's a thing at Molly's.
Benny Severide: You're always at Molly's. You can't miss one night?
Severide: It's a fundraiser thing… We got to get to shift.
Jennifer Sheridan: Okay.
Kidd: Yeah, yeah. We gotta get in early.
Jennifer Sheridan: Yeah... No, we got it.
Severide: I got it. I got it.
Jennifer Sheridan: Maybe you can change his mind about tomorrow.
Kidd: Yeah.
Outside the firehouse
Kidd: So fundraiser at Molly's, huh? Are you mad at me for some reason?
Severide: Not mad at you. I'm a little mad, but not at you.
Firehouse: locker room
Dawson: Hi.
Brett: You play hockey?
Dawson: Oh, no, no. This is a new stick for Matt as a surprise. He joined a weekly game at Johnny's Icehouse.
Brett: That's sweet of you.
Dawson: Well, he never buys anything for himself, so... Ever since this Cordova mishap, I've been trying to... Step up my game.
Brett: Mm.
Cordova: Morning.
Dawson: Morning.
Brett: Hi. Uh, there any details about him you'd like to share with me, or...
Dawson: You know I'm not a kiss-and-tell kind of girl.
Brett: Is he a good guy?
Dawson: 'Cause I'm always in the market for one of those. Then go shop. See what you think.
Bullpen
Otis: Hey. Hey! Hey, Connie does not like to have her desk cluttered when she gets in! These guys. It's unbelievable. What?
Casey: How is physical therapy going?
Otis: Pretty well.
Casey: Can't be easy.
Otis: I am at that rehab facility every morning at sunrise, and every night, I am doing the exercises they gave me to work on at home, sometimes three times, even when it hurts like hell.
Casey: That's great.
Otis: Guess I didn't think it would go so slow.
Casey: Otis, you got shot in the neck. A lot of people wouldn't be walking after that. Try not to put a clock on all this. The important thing is you'll get there.
Otis: I hope so. Thanks, Captain.
Garage
Taye: I scored, like, 18 points last game.
Cruz: No way!
Taye: Fore real. Come to the park with me. I'll show you.
Cruz: You know, I don't know, man. It, uh... I do average about 92 points a game, so it might get kind of embarrassing for you. Hey, why are you not at school right now? Is it some kind of holiday?
Taye: I failed another math test. Teacher's just gonna be yelling at me, so what's the point?
Cruz: You know, uh, math was my best subject in school.
Taye: Good for you.
Cruz: Hey, look, how about I make you a deal? How about you go to school today and we'll work on your math work after? I bet we can get those grades up.
Taye: You serious?
Cruz: Hell yeah. But... You gotta get to school.
Taye: All right, yeah.
Cruz: He's having a tough time. Single mom, working a couple of jobs.
Capp: I failed math, too.
Main: Truck 81, Squad Three, Ambulance 61, Battalion 25, multi-vehicle accident, Adams and Racine. Truck 81, Squad Three,
Squad 3
Main: Ambulance 61, Battalion 25, stand down. We are rerouting that alarm.
Severide: This is Squad Three to Main. We're already on the move.
Main: Negative, Squad Three. We're dispatching other companies. Stand down.
Garage
Boden: Hey! What the hell is this?
Nick Riordan: You in charge here?
Boden: Yes, I am. You want to tell me what's going on?
Nick Riordan: Scoville, get these doors closed.
Boden: I need answers.
Nick Riordan: FBI. Special Agent Nick Riordan. I need to borrow your firehouse.
Briefing room
Boden: Okay, listen up. Special Agent Riordan and his team are commandeering Firehouse 51.
Herrmann: "Commandeering"?
Casey: Quiet, Herrmann.
Boden: I'll let Agent Riordan explain.
Nick Riordan: Morning, folks. Sorry for the short notice, but your firehouse is uniquely situated for our purposes. Three days ago, a violent fugitive named Martin Becerra murdered a federal agent in St. Louis. We believe Becerra is headed to Chicago to seek help from his brother, who lives across the street. So we're parking it right here at 51 until Becerra shows up.
Herrmann: Yeah, well, good luck staying out of sight. Our doors are always open to the neighbourhood.
Nick Riordan: I understand that, but we'll need to limit activity at the firehouse. Alarms, trucks coming and going, anything that would draw attention.
Severide: How soon do you expect this guy?
Nick Riordan: It's hard to say. We tracked his cell phone to Decatur earlier this morning, but he turned the phone off, so at this point, all we can do is wait. What you need to worry about is sitting tight and staying out of our way.
Cruz: Excuse me?
Boden: The CFD have agreed to cooperate with the FBI on this one, so it's out of our hands. In any case, the best way to serve the neighbourhood right now is to support Agent Riordan and his team in the capture of a violent criminal. So let's do that.
All: Whatever you say, Chief. Copy that, Chief.
Nick Riordan: Thank you, Chief.
Garage
Scoville: Sorry, fellas. We're gonna need this table.
Severide: All yours.
Scoville: In fact, we're gonna use this as our staging area, so if you could just move all of this gear out of the way, that'd be great. Thanks.
Hallway
Kidd: I don't like these feds everywhere. Makes it harder to corner you in the turnout room.
Severide: Well, don't give up on that mission.
Kidd: Never. Hey, uh, your mom left me a message about dinner tomorrow night. You sure you don't want to go?
Severide: Not a chance. Seriously, that situation, those two... Disaster.
Kidd: How can you be so sure? I mean, they seem genuinely happy.
Severide: I lived through it once already. Trust me, it's not fun.
Kidd: Maybe they're older and wiser now, and you even said yourself that Jennifer has come a long way. This could be good for her.
Severide: You want to go with them, be my guest.
Julia Cortes: You look important. I just mean, you're an officer.
Severide: Lieutenant Severide.
Julia Cortes: Agent Cortes. Julia.
Severide: Ah, Cortes, nice to meet you.
Julia Cortes: My boss wants to see you. He's set up in your chief's office.
Severide: Sorry. Important person stuff.
Casey’s office
Casey: I just never heard of anything like this. "Reduced duty"? Seems extreme.
Dawson: Yeah, it really does.
Casey: We can easily be going out on runs while they sit here, staring at an apartment building.
Dawson: So true.
Casey: Wish there was something else I could do about it.
Dawson: I do too.
Casey: What's going on?
Dawson: What?
Casey: The, uh, thoughtful gifts, the constant un-Gabby-like agreement.
Dawson: Hey! Is it really that unusual that I'm agreeing with everything you say? Look, I just want to make sure that you know that... I love you.
Casey: Yeah, I know. No need to change personalities on me.
Dawson: You said you didn't want any space between us. See? No space.
Cordova: Sorry to interrupt. Captain, the Chief wants to see you in his office. He's got some feds in there.
Casey: Thanks. Maybe we're going back into service.
Dawson: Keep me posted.
Boden’s office
Boden: Casey, come on in. This is Captain Matt Casey. He's my second in command.
Nick Riordan: Thanks for letting us use your house, Captain. I know it's an intrusion.
Casey: Glad to help any way we can.
Julia Cortes: This is Martin Becerra's brother, Maurice, 33 years old. Ever seen him around the neighbourhood?
Casey: No.
Severide: No, he doesn't look familiar.
Julia Cortes: He lives in apartment 1F, but we need to confirm he's there now, and not already with Becerra.
Nick Riordan: We're gonna need to do a little recon.
Boden: What does that entail?
Nick Riordan: I send a couple of my guys into the building posing as gas company employees. They nose around, see what they can see.
Boden: Any risk to the residents? There's a lot of families in there, a lot of kids.
Nick Riordan: I wouldn't worry about that. We know what we're doing.
Casey: Remember that guy who ran his little girl over here when she was choking on a hot dog?
Severide: Yeah, Hector.
Casey: Yeah, they live there, also on the first floor. Why don't we go over there to see how Isabella's doing, take a look around?
Nick Riordan: I'm good with that, as long as you keep a low profile, and just you, not your whole company.
Boden: My firefighters don't freelance. You're gonna need backup.
Severide: I could go. We both know the family.
Nick Riordan: Okay.
Boden: Good.
Bullpen
Casey: Connie. Mind if I borrow this?
Connie: Okay...
Casey: Thanks.
Outside the building
Casey: Apartment 1C.
Severide: It's just a few doors down from Maurice.
Hector: Hello?
Casey: Hector. It's Captain Casey and Lieutenant Severide from the firehouse. We just stopped by to say hello.
Hector: Hey! Let me buzz you in.
Hallway
Hector: Captain! Lieutenant! Good to see you guys.
Severide: Hector.
Hector: What brings you by?
Casey: It's been a while since we last saw Isabella. We brought her something.
Hector: That's so sweet of you, but she's in school right now.
Casey: Ah, of course.
Hector: But I'll... I'll make sure to give this to her. She'll be thrilled, and sad she missed you.
Casey: So she's okay, then? No long-term effects?
Hector: Oh, no, not at all. I mean, a sore throat, but that went away, and the broken blood vessels healed up, so...
Casey: Oh, good, that's, uh... That's good to hear.
Hector: But I can't tell you how grateful we are that you were there to help that day.
Jeannie: Get the... Get the babies. Put 'em in the crib!
Hector: Just wish there was some way I could repay you.
Casey: Well, I... I take cash or credit. I'm kidding, Hector.
Jeannie: I don't hear anything.
Maurice: Help you?
Severide: Uh... I'm with the fire department.
Maurice: Yeah, and?
Severide: Just doing a routine check of all the fire extinguishers in the building. We do it once every six months or so.
Maurice: Ain't no fire extinguishers in here.
Severide: All right. Uh... You should get one. Just keep it under your sink. Have a good day.
Hector: What's going on, Captain?
Casey: Nothing. Just, uh, we'll stop by again after school.
Severide: Let's get the hell out of here.
Boden’s office
Nick Riordan: You shouldn't have made contact.
Severide: It's not like I knocked on the door. He just opened it.
Julia Cortes: Can you describe the guns?
Severide: Handguns. Automatic. At least two on the table. Probably another one behind his back.
Nick Riordan: Why did he come out? Did he hear you?
Severide: How would I know? He was nervous.
Nick Riordan: And now his radar is up.
Severide: His radar was already up.
Casey: All he saw was firefighters talking to residents of the building. No big deal. We didn't blow our cover.
Nick Riordan: Is that your professional opinion?
Boden: Agent Riordan, my men tell you something, you can take that to the bank.
Hallway
Scoville: Hey. Paramedic.
Dawson: My name's Dawson.
Scoville: I just got word there's a female civilian coming up the front entrance. We need her gone.
Dawson: She's probably here for the infant CPR class.
Scoville: Get rid of her.
Dawson: Hi. Uh, are you here for the class?
Pregnant woman: Am I late?
Dawson: I'm so sorry. We had to reschedule. Uh, we left a message for everyone.
Pregnant woman: Oh.
Dawson: It's gonna be next week. Same time.
Pregnant woman: Hope she doesn't come early.
Dawson: Well, I'm sure you'll be fine, even if she does. You can bring her with you.
Pregnant woman: Maybe I'll check the local hospitals, see if they have any classes this week.
Dawson: Sure, yeah, and Red Cross, too. I'm... I'm really sorry about this.
Radio: Another civilian entering the premises. Said he's a firefighter.
Scoville: It's nonstop in this place.
Dawson: Benny.
Benny Severide: Hey, Dawson.
Dawson: Hi?
Scoville: He a firefighter?
Benny Severide: CFD Battalion Chief, retired.
Scoville: Retired. He needs to go.
Benny Severide: Oh, hell, you're a fed. These guys are feds, aren't they?
Dawson: He's family. We can vouch for him.
Julia Cortes: Scoville, we got news.
Benny Severide: What's 51 gotten into now?
Boden’s office
Casey: What's happening?
Nick Riordan: He activated his cell phone again.
Scoville: Where? How long ago?
Nick Riordan: A couple of minutes, in Bolingbrook.
Boden: That's less than an hour away.
Scoville: Let's armour up and triple-check our weapons. We got the jump on this son of a bitch.
Agent: Let's roll.
Severide’s office
Benny Severide: Hey. I didn't think they were letting anyone in the firehouse. You think your old man's gonna be intimidated by a couple of feds?
Severide: Where's Mom?
Benny Severide: At the church, with her ladies. Meanwhile, I thought I'd get tickets to that "Phantom of the Opera" sequel, but it turns out it's already gone. I better come up with a replacement, quick, or I'm gonna be facing a firing squad. You know how that woman gets.
Severide: I'm sure she'll be fine either way.
Benny Severide: What's going on with you, Kelly? Lighten up, will you?
Severide: Got a lot of paperwork.
Benny Severide: Look, I know you're not happy about your mom and I getting back together, but it's happening, and you're a grown man, so you're gonna have to figure out a way to deal with it.
Severide: I can deal with it. I... I'm fine. It's Mom that I'm worried about.
Benny Severide: What's that supposed to mean? She's happy.
Severide: For now. How long do you think you can keep up the caring husband act, huh? A week? A month? And then what? At some point, Benny's gonna come back, and... We all know how that turns out.
Benny Severide: You don't know half as much as you think you do.
Severide: You think I'm wrong?
Benny Severide: You think you're so damned smart. Smarter than everybody else. Me, your mom, Carl Grissom, who, by the way, did nothing but try to help you.
Severide: This has nothing to do with Grizz.
Benny Severide: The hell it doesn't! It's about respect. You don't have any, which is why you're never gonna move up in this world.
Severide: You slam me all you want. You've been doing it my whole life. I'm used to it. I don't care. At the end of the day, this is about you. The only reason why you're with Mom is because you're old, and you're scared, and you're weak. You need someone to boost you up. And we both know she deserves better.
Benny Severide: You're not worth the energy.
Hallway
Julia Cortes: Whoa.
Severide: Hey, hey. Sorry about that.
Julia Cortes: Hey, um, I wanted to say, don't worry about Riordan. He's under a lot of pressure. You guys did great out there.
Severide: Yeah, thanks.
Kidd: Hey, I just saw Benny storming out of here. What happened?
Julia Cortes: I, um... I better get back onto the floor.
Severide: Yeah. I just got into it with him. Guy's so wrapped up in his own ego, he doesn't care about anyone else.
Kidd: I'm sorry.
Severide: Yeah. Over it.
Kidd: Yeah.
Kitchen
Agent: Copy that. Standing by.
Brett: It's so tense around here. I feel like we should play charades or something.
Cruz: You know what? I'll play.
Brett: Fun! Okay, I'll go first. Um...
Cruz: Movie.
Radio: Young male approaching the firehouse. African-American, early teens.
Cruz: Oh, damn it. That's Taye.
Garage
Agent: We're on it.
Cruz: Look, hang on, all right? I know this kid.
Agent: We're already dealing with it.
Outside the firehouse
Scoville: Can I help you?
Taye: Where's Joe at?
Scoville: He's busy. We're real busy here.
Taye: Joe said to come see him.
Scoville: Some other time, kid.
Garage
Agent: Hey...
Outside the firehouse
Cruz: Bad timing, Taye. I'm so sorry.
Taye: What's going on?
Cruz: I... It's just a bad time. That's all.
Scoville: You gotta go.
Cruz: Taye!
Garage
Cruz: Why'd you have to run him off? He's a good kid.
Scoville: You might trust him, but I don't. Can't have him hanging around.
Cruz: I was gonna help him with his homework.
Scoville: Hey, pal, I got one concern right now, and that's to catch the scumbag who killed my partner.
Mouch: You gonna help out, or you just gonna stand there?
Herrmann: Did you hear what he just said? That Agent Scoville.
Mouch: No, what?
Herrmann: What... His partner was the one that got killed. No wonder why he's chomping at the bit to get this guy.
Mouch: Mm, that's tough.
Herrmann: Yeah, well, they should've pulled him off the case. Guy's too close. He could snap, get somebody hurt.
Mouch: I don't know. Remember that kid got Otis shot, and Cruz was gunning for him? He needed help, Cruz set all that aside, saved the kid's life. It's called being a professional.
Herrmann: Ah, yeah, well, we expect it from a firefighter.
Hallway
Dawson: Hey.
Cordova: Hey. Look, I hope me being here isn't making things awkward for you and Captain Casey.
Dawson: Oh, Casey? No, no, no. No, it's fine. He's not the jealous type, and he knows that the thing between us was nothing.
Cordova: Oh.
Dawson: What?
Cordova: It wasn't nothing to me.
Kitchen
Brett: You can explain everything to Taye the next time you see him. He'll think it's cool, I bet.
Cruz: Yeah, maybe.
Otis: What the hell?
Scoville: Disturbance at the back of the firehouse. All hands on deck!
Radio: Copy that. We're on our way.
Outside the firehouse
Agent: Freeze! Hands in the air! Turn around.
Cruz: No. Whoa, whoa! Whoa, whoa, no, no! It's Taye. It's Taye. It's the kid from before.
Julia Cortes: What happened?
Cruz: He's just a kid from the hood. You know him.
Julia Cortes: You're making a scene, Scoville.
Scoville: He threw a brick through the window.
Julia Cortes: God damn it. Inside. Everybody! Him too.
Cruz: Come on, buddy. It's okay. Just come inside, okay?
Kitchen
Otis: What happened?
Nick Riordan: Talk to me. What...
Julia Cortes: It's just a neighbourhood kid.
Nick Riordan: What's this about? Who put you up to it, kid?
Cruz: No one put him up to it. He's... He's just mad at us. He's mad at me.
Radio: Target has arrived. Repeat, target has arrived. North gate.
Scoville: Becerra. Damn it.
Radio: Hurry up. We're losing him.
Hallway
Casey: What now?
Boden: He's here. Becerra.
Garage
Agent: We're too late. He's at the door.
Nick Riordan: You sure it's him?
Agent: Positive. Showed up in that gold Accord.
Nick Riordan: Scoville, stand down.
Scoville: We can still get him.
Nick Riordan: Stand down. You want him to make us? We can't catch up to him in time. Just hold your position.
Scoville: Unbelievable.
Nick Riordan: Don't take your eyes off that building. You three. I want some answers.
Briefing room
Severide: Sounds like the kid was just angry because of how you ran him off.
Scoville: So he smashes a window?
Casey: Point is, he wasn't sent here to create a distraction. It was just a bad break.
Severide: And it sure as hell wasn't our fault.
Nick Riordan: But we missed our opportunity, all right? And now he's holed up inside a huge residential building with dozens of potential hostages.
Boden: So why don't you stop pointing fingers and start focusing on solutions?
Dormitory
Taye: Why do I have to stay here? I said I was sorry.
Cruz: You can go home soon, all right? We'll just... Just hang here for a while. Right? Now we can work on your math, huh, like we planned.
Taye: Am I... Going to jail? My dad's locked up. I mean, I went to see him once, but it's the worst place I've ever been.
Cruz: You're not going to jail. Take a seat here on this bunk… I'm keeping you here because I want you to be safe... I got you, Taye. I promise… Right on. All right. Let's see what we got here. Oh, pre-algebra?
Taye: Yeah.
Cruz: Ugh. What's that, um, fractions and square roots?
Taye: Yep.
Cruz: Eh, all the good stuff. All right, we'll get started...
Briefing room
Julia Cortes: The cautious play is to wait him out. He doesn't know we're here, and he can't stay in there forever.
Scoville: Sure he can. Where's he gotta be? He could sit in there for a year.
Julia Cortes: But he won't. We bring in more manpower. We watch every exit around the clock.
Scoville: We gotta go in, boss.
Julia Cortes: It could get messy.
Scoville: The longer we sit on our hands, the messier it gets. Right now, Becerra is barely settled. He has no idea we're onto him. We go in there, full throttle, and kick down the door before he has a chance to hunker down.
Nick Riordan: He's right. We have the element of surprise. We have to use it while we can.
Severide: What about the woman and the baby? And all the other residents?
Nick Riordan: We planned for this kind of thing. This is what we do.
Boden: My men plan for every eventuality before we go into a fire. Things still go wrong. People die, especially if our emotions are clouding our judgment.
Scoville: Yeah, well, this is an FBI operation. You don't get a vote.
Boden: Well, maybe I should. The FBI have made my firehouse complicit in this thing. If it goes south and people get hurt, we share the blame.
Casey: There is another way… We once responded to a fire inside Cook County Jail and got caught up in a riot. Inmates wanted to kill a sheriff's deputy, but we were able to sneak him out by disguising him as a firefighter. People trust firefighters. They lower their guard when they see us coming.
Entrance
Boden: 51 is back online.
Casey: You okay if I have Otis drive?
Boden: It's a great idea.
Casey: Hector, it's Matt Casey from Firehouse 51. Remember you said you wish there was a way you could repay us? Well, how about this? Wait two minutes, and pull the fire alarm in your building and get your daughter outside. I'll explain later. Knew you would. Thanks, Hector.
Nick Riordan: Okay, let's go.
Dawson: What's going on?
Casey: Thinking of joining the FBI.
Dawson: Matt...
Casey: It'll be fine. Love you.
Garage
Herrmann: Hey. Firefighter needs his tools of ignorance, so here. Hold that down by your side. It should hide the gun. Perfect. Hey. I hope you get the guy. For your partner.
Scoville: Thanks. Okay! Let's do this.
Casey: Wait for dispatch.
Main: Engine 51, Truck 81, Squad Three, structure fire...
Casey: Not yet.
Main: ... 1110 West Maxwell.
Casey: We need time to react, get to the floor, suit up... And... Mount up.
Truck 81
Casey: Nice and easy, Scoville. Just take a breath. You're a firefighter. You're expecting a stove fire, not a gunfight.
Building
Casey: Nice and slow. Don't run. Keep moving, keep moving.
Severide: Fire department! Evacuate! Come on, ma'am.
Hector: Everybody, we gotta go! This is a fire!
Casey: Hey, Isabella. Keep moving.
Hector: Everything okay, Captain?
Casey: Just get outside and keep her far from the building. Shouldn't take long.
Severide: Let's go. You guys need to leave… Fire department. Evacuate.
Casey: Fire department! Clear the premises.
Severide: Fire department. Evacuate! Fire department! You guys need to leave now. Let's go. You need to leave. Last chance. We're coming in.
Casey: Whoa, whoa, whoa. Hold up.
Maurice: We're okay. There's no fire.
Casey: We need to have a look.
Maurice: Man, there's no smoke or nothing.
Casey: The apartment above you reported smoke. There could be an electrical fire in the walls, and you wouldn't even know it. Better safe than sorry.
Jeannie: I told you, baby, we should evacuate.
Maurice: It's okay. Let me handle this.
Casey: Sir, one way or another, we need to have a look inside your apartment.
Jeannie: Maurice, let me and Marco leave, please! Please.
Maurice: Jeannie, shut the hell up, would you?
Casey: Sir, you're interfering with an emergency response. We're coming in.
Apartment
Maurice: Whoa, whoa!
Casey: We don't have time.
Becerra: Whoa, whoa, stop right there. Drop that stuff!
Casey: Easy. Easy. We're just looking for fire.
Becerra: Let the place burn! We're leaving. Go to your mama.
Severide: Guys, we're just firefighters. All right?
Casey: You don't have to do this.
Becerra: Shut up and get to moving.
Maurice: Come on, man.
Hallway
Becerra: Stay back!
Maurice: You heard him.
Becerra: You better stay back too, buddy.
Maurice: Get back! Watch you, boy. Don't even! Get back! Get back!
Julia Cortes: Hands in the air!
Nick Riordan: Drop your weapon! Drop your weapon!
Becerra: I ain't going! Get back! Get back!
Gunshots
Julia Cortes: No, I'm okay, I think.
Brett: Let's have a look. The vest saved your life, but it's gonna be a nasty bruise. She's okay.
Dawson: Hey, you can relax. They're not going anywhere.
Scoville: Good.
Casey: Hey. There's a scared little guy inside with his mom. Maybe give him a once-over.
Dawson: Will do.
Molly’s
Casey: Nice to have our firehouse back.
Boden: Hear, hear.
Otis: I don't know. It was kind of cool, having the "fibbies" around.
Dawson: Did you just say "fibbies"?
Mouch: Did you say "cool"?
Dawson: Yeah, well, I got to drive the truck. Felt like one of the gang again.
Herrmann: Hey, dumb-dumb. You're still one of the gang. You always will be.
Boden: Hear, hear.
Herrmann: Ah, boy, here we go! Coming here to commandeer my bar?
Nick Riordan: Think we've already imposed enough on you guys. I'm here to make sure no one from Firehouse 51 pays for their own drink tonight, so, uh... Put it all on there.
Casey: Now you're talking.
Boden: Not necessary, Riordan, but absolutely appreciated. Come on, grab a stool and come join us.
Nick Riordan: Yeah, love to, Chief.
Boden: Here.
Nick Riordan: Oh, yeah?
Boden: Oh, yeah.
Cordova: How long have you been in 51?
Brett: Three years now, but I remember how it felt to be the new guy. It's not fun… Excuse me, fellas. Hey, how'd it go with Taye?
Cruz: He's home, safe and sound. I set up a regular time for him to come by for math help.
Brett: You're a good guy, Joe Cruz. You deserve a beer. On me.
Cruz: Oh, I cannot say no to that!
Severide’s loft
Kidd: Oh, God...
Severide: Um. No feds are here. Mom's out with Benny.
Kidd: Oh...
Jennifer Sheridan: No, she's not.
Severide: Mm.
Kidd: Is everything okay?
Jennifer Sheridan: Uh, I will be.
Severide: What's going on, Mom? What did he do?
Jennifer Sheridan: Oh, well... He broke it off. Said he still loved me, uh, but he wasn't sure he deserved me, and that, uh, he didn't want me to get hurt. I told him, "Don't be an idiot. I'm not the woman I was 15, 20 years ago," but he, uh... You know. He wouldn't listen. Said this was for the best. You know, funny thing is... I really think we could've had fun.
Severide: I think... This might be my fault.
Jennifer Sheridan: Oh, yeah. I know it's your fault, honey. Your father wouldn't come to any of this on his own. He cares more about what you think than he lets on.
Severide: I'm sorry, Mom.
Jennifer Sheridan: No, don't be. Don't be. You were trying to protect me, like you always have, and, uh, truth is, Chicago is a little fast for me, right? And now the, uh, church is up and running, so... I'll be happy to get home.
Severide: I'm glad you came.
Jennifer Sheridan: Me too. Honey, would you get my purse from your bedroom for me? Please?
Severide: Yeah.
Jennifer Sheridan: That boy... Between me and Benny, we... Really did a number on him… Don't give up when things get a little rough. The moods, the women... He's his father's son.
Kidd: Sure. Yeah.
