Amber's house: living room

Brett: I know that's a lot to ask.

Amber: I left all that behind in Chicago. I'm starting over here, okay?

Brett: I get that. I do. But your own instinct was that I'm the right person to care for that little girl. And that's exactly what I wanna do. I promise that's all I want.

Amber: What would I have to do?

Brett: You'd reclaim custody of the baby. She's in a foster home now. Then you can designate me her legal guardian, and eventually, adoptive mother.

Amber: Eventually? How long does all this take?

Brett: I can be her legal guardian almost right after you take custody. The adoption part could take longer, but I'd have her the whole time. You wouldn't have to do a thing.

----------

Firehouse: hallway

Brett: She wants some time to think. She promised it would be soon, so I've been checking my phone every two seconds.

Kidd: That's a legit request.

Brett: It is. I know. I'm sure she wants to talk to her parents about it too. I'm glad I showed up in person. I could tell that made an impression on her.

----------

Firehouse: locker room

Violet: I have a really good feeling about this.

Kidd: Yeah, me too.

Brett: I hope you guys are right. What happened when you called Severide?

Kidd: It was fine, I guess. I asked him about why he didn't tell me about the new job detail. He told me it came up too suddenly. He kept telling me it was no big deal and not to worry. Doesn't sound like it worked. He was just so vague about everything, and not just what, exactly, he's up to there, but also, uh... Low it affects when he comes home... He said that's a little up in the air right now... I don't know what's going on with him.

----------

Firehouse: bullpen

Ritter: Yes, this is personal business. I'm sorry. It's a flyer for my friend's band. I can pay you per page.

Kylie: No worries. I actually just wanted to ask you a question. How long after the lottery was done did you find out if your number had been called? The thing is, I heard that they drew this year's lottery, like, a week ago, and I haven't gotten an email or call or anything.

Ritter: Don't panic. With the CFD, there are a million reasons for bureaucratic delays. Just give it a little more time. Then if it's still radio silence, I'll help you dig into it, okay?

Kylie: Okay. Yeah. Great. Thanks, Ritter.

Dispatch: Truck 81, Engine 51, Ambulance 61. Multi-vehicle accident, Roosevelt and Racine.

----------

Street

Kidd: Mouch, Gallo... Let's grab four paratech struts, shore up this boat. Carver, grab the jaws.

Carver: On it. Copy.

Kidd: Violet, Brett, stay back until we stabilize this mess.

Violet: Copy.

Witness: It's my fault. It's all my fault. I tried to make a right turn from the center lane. It's just so stupid. I cut that guy off. He clipped the trailer. The boat came loose and landed on this poor lady. Then that one, it bounced off her.

Herrmann: All right. Hey, I'll check the sedan.

Kidd: Copy that.

Herrmann: Stay here.

Kidd: Carver, go check on that SUV.

----------

Herrmann: You okay, ma'am?

Ms. Doreen: My ears are ringing.

Herrmann: Yeah, yeah, that's just the airbag. It'll stop soon... You hurt anyplace else?

Ms. Doreen: I don't know. I'm... I'm... I'm shaking.

Herrmann: It's okay, all right? Take a deep breath. There you go. The worst part's over.

----------

Carver: Hey, where's the driver of the SUV?

Witness: I don't know, man. He just took off.

Carver:Took off? Like, on foot?

Witness: Yeah, he grabbed a big duffel out of the back, and he just ran, basically. I never got any chance to talk to him.

----------

Herrmann: Doing great. Almost there.

Ms. Doreen: Oh, thank you. I've never been so afraid in my life.

Herrmann: Ah, you're doing fine now.

Ms. Doreen: What's your name?

Herrmann: Christopher.

Ms. Doreen: Christopher, thank you so much.

Herrmann: Yeah. Um...

Ms. Doreen: Ms. Doreen...

Herrmann: Yeah?

Ms. Doreen: Is a medium, and you must let me repay you with a reading.

Herrmann: Ah, that's okay, ma'am. You really don't need to do this.

Ms. Doreen: Christopher, listen to me. You are going to experience great pain very soon. I am so sorry.

Herrmann: Okay, I gotta get back to work.

----------

Gallo: Got it.

Kidd: Okay. Okay. One, two, three.

Brett: One, two, three.

Violet: Pulse is steady.

Brett: Let's get her on oxygen.

Violet: Copy.

Kidd: Hey, your lady doing okay?

Ms. Doreen: She's off her nut, but yeah. She didn't get hurt at all.

Kidd: Good. And what about the SUV?

Carver: I guess there was one occupant, but he fled the scene.

Kidd: Fled why? Accident wasn't his fault.

Carver: No idea. The boat guy said he grabbed a big duffel out of the back and took off without a word.

Kidd: Hey, we got a cop on scene?

Mouch: Rolled up a couple minutes ago.

Kidd: Yeah, send him my way, would you?

Mouch: Yep.

----------

Firehouse: garage

Carver: What do you think the story is with the Tahoe?

Kidd: Yeah, I found this in the back.

Carver: Whoa. .50 caliber?

Kidd: Oh, hell if know. But when I went to that meeting with Homeland Security a while back, they told us about an anti-government group they thought might be using large caliber rounds to damage electrical infrastructure.

Carver: So what are you gonna do?

Kidd: I just texted this to Casey. I'll wait to see what he says before I start to panic.

----------

Cruz: Hey, good run?

Mouch: Boat accident on Roosevelt.

Herrmann: Yeah, be glad you didn't get called out. A lot of bad juju on that one.

Cruz: What do you mean?

Herrmann: I helped out this kooky palm reader, and she tells me that I got trouble coming my way.

Mouch: Back up. You let her read your palm in the middle of the call?

Herrmann: Well, she didn't give me a choice.

Capp: First, it's meditation, and now he's seeing a psychic.

Tony: What's this world coming to?

Herrmann: It's not funny. What she said was awful.

Gallo: What'd she say?

Herrmann: Well, she said... "You're gonna feel great pain very soon."

Cruz: Yeah, that's kinda creepy.

Herrmann: Right? Who says to that somebody they just met?

Ritter: I think you can safely ignore any prophecies from a lady with a "basic witch" bumper sticker.

Herrmann: I'm not saying I believe her, just that it was awful.

Ritter: Okay.

----------

Firehouse: Boden's office

Kidd: Hey, Chief, any chance you got a minute to talk?

Boden: I'm actively looking to do anything but this damn paperwork. So yes, please, come on in... What's up?

Kidd: Well, this is... It's gonna sound kinda strange.

Boden: I can handle that.

Kidd: Okay. Can you tell me about Benny Severide?

Boden: Why do you ask?

Kidd: You can be honest... Look, I've heard Kelly's side, but I really want your take... It would mean a lot to me, Chief.

Boden: Okay... Benny was a wanderer, which I'm sure you've heard. He never stayed anywhere for very long, and it caused him as much pain as it caused the people that he loved, even though he never showed it.

Kidd: According to Kelly's mom, he showed it by drinking his way through Illinois.

Boden: Stella... What's going on?

Kidd: To tell you the truth... I don't really know.

----------

Firehouse: bathroom

Violet: Hey. Are you waiting for me?

Brett: No, not really. Yes, I guess I was. Still no word from Amber. And I was thinking about this, she doesn't really know me, so why would she trust me?

Violet: I'm sure you were clear about how serious you are.

Brett: Well, I said the words, but what does that mean to Amber? I mean, she wants nothing to do with this baby, and I'm asking her to take custody so I can become the guardian. But what if I backed out? She'd have to go through the whole painful experience of handing her baby back to the state again.

Violet: She trusted you enough to leave the baby here. That's something.

Brett: I'm just not sure it's enough.

Carver: Sorry if I'm interrupting.

Violet: Not at all. We were just walking to the locker room.

Brett: Don't think I haven't noticed how you've been looking at him lately.

----------

Firehouse: locker room

Violet: You are totally misreading that.

Brett: Uh-huh.

Violet: I mean, does he look good in a towel? Yes. Am I allowed to look? Come on, Brett.

----------

Firehouse: Kidd's quarters / Casey's house

Kidd: Just say it, I'm being overdramatic.

Casey: I wouldn't say that.

Kidd: No?

Casey: Not at all. We were told to have our radar up for threats to the power grid.

Kidd: Right, but all I found was a bullet.

Casey: That bullet is called a Raufoss round. .50 caliber BMG ammunition with a high-explosive, armor-piercing projectile.

Kidd: Raufoss.

Casey: It's Norwegian for red waterfall.

Kidd: Oh, lovely.

Casey: Yeah. It'll go clean through steel armor and detonate on the other side. Extremely destructive.

Kidd: So what's this guy doing with it?

Casey: Good question. It's not illegal, but it's incredibly expensive and very hard to get ahold of. You remember that incident out here I talked about with the militia group?

Kidd: Sure.

Casey: Those guys were known to possess a cache of these rounds. There has to be a connection.

Kidd: So what are we gonna do?

Casey: I'm coming to you. I'm gonna catch a redeye to Chicago tonight.

Kidd: Oh.

Casey: You need to reach out to Chris McManus. Remember him, your DHS contact in the Midwest?

Kidd: Yeah.

Casey: You need to tell him what you found as soon as possible. Because I think we're looking at exactly what those guys have been warning us about.

----------

Firehouse: Kidd's quarters

Brett: Can't sleep?

Kidd: No. Amber on your mind?

Brett: That's a lot of it. Casey called to tell me he's coming to Chicago tomorrow, and Dylan has been so great with all this talk of a baby, and things are finally going well with him after Casey's last visit when I spun out a little. But it sounds like it's good that he's coming. Is that the DHS threat that's keeping you up, or is it Severide?

Kidd: Mama Severide, most of all. Some stuff she said to me a few years ago has been ringing in my ears. She told me Kelly is destined to become his father, and that is not a man I should marry.

Brett: She's wrong, Stella.

Kidd: I don't know anymore, Sylvie... Maybe Kelly really is a wanderer at heart. Now that we've been apart for a while, he's slipping right back to that... We're losing our connection no matter how hard I try.

Brett: I know how tough it can be trying to stay close over long distance. But as soon as you're together, all those complications fade. Everything that you feel for each other is gonna come rushing back.

----------

Firehouse: lounge room

Mouch: Come on. First there's all this chit-chat in Kidd's office, and now you come poking at me? It's sleep time.

Violet: I have an idea I wanna run by you.

----------

Firehouse: common room

Carver: How are you feeling about giving up the crown?

Cruz: I have gotten a little attached to the lieutenant's title, I'll admit it.

Carver: Fits you like a glove too. When is Severide coming back? Isn't it, like, a week or two?

Cruz: It was supposed to be, but it might be longer.

Carver: Why? What's going on?

Cruz: I'm not sure. Just that there might be some kind of delay in his return. That's all I know.

Herrmann: I... I just made this pot. Who drank all the coffee?

Mouch: You did.

Herrmann: I did? Well, it's no wonder, after all the jibber-jabber in the bunk room last night.

Ritter: Hmm. I slept right through it.

Gallo: Same.

Herrmann: Good for you. You see how well you sleep after Ms. Doreen predicts a horrible fate for you.

Mouch: I thought you said you didn't believe in that claptrap.

Herrmann: I don't, but after the year that Cindy and I had, dark thoughts, they... They come too easy. I can't stop imagining the worst.

Ritter: Ms. Doreen's Psychic Parlor and Witchcraft Emporium. Oh, my God. Look at this website.

Gallo: Oh. Come on, Herrmann. You can't take this lady seriously. Look at that font.

Herrmann: West Adams... I know where that place is.

Mouch: Herrmann.

Herrmann: What? Leave me alone.

----------

Firehouse: garage

Casey: I hope we're wrong about this, but I wanna be here if there's anything I can do to help.

Brett: I'm sure DHS appreciates it. I know Kidd does... I'm trying to adopt a baby.

Casey: Really?

Brett: Yeah. This little girl we rescued right after she was born, there are some issues with the birth mom, so... That probably sounds crazy and sudden.

Casey: No, it doesn't. You've always been great with little ones. You had such a sweet connection with Amelia right after she was born.

Brett: Thanks, Matt. That means a lot.

Casey: And this... This guy you're seeing, Dylan, is he a part of this, or...?

Brett: Oh, no. No. He's being supportive and everything, but this is all me.

Casey: Well, I'm happy for you.

Brett: Thank you. Might not happen, honestly. But still, I can't help but feel like it's... It's meant to be.

----------

Firehouse: briefing room

Kidd: McManus said so far, the crashed Tahoe is a dead end. The vehicle was stolen in Minnesota, but the tags belonged to a different car from Champagne. FBI is still looking into that. Haven't found any usable prints or DNA in the Tahoe.

Casey: None?

Kidd: That's what he said.

Boden: What about the .50 caliber round?

Kidd: They confirmed... It's one of those scary Norwegian bullets. But since it's not illegal to possess, they don't see anything here yet that would cause them to raise their threat level.

Boden: So did you come all this way for nothing?

Casey: I don't think so. This threat's been dangling out there for too long. The other shoe has to drop at some point.

Boden: Okay. I can push HQ to spread the word, be on the alert for attacks on the energy grid. But beyond that, I'm not sure what else we can do.

Casey: I'll stick around for a few days in case there are any more developments. But hopefully, I am wasting my time. That's the best case scenario. Really.

Boden: Amen. Keep me in the loop.

Kidd: Absolutely, Chief.

----------

Violet: Hey, Kidd, if you have to use the latrine, do it now 'cause it's road trip time.

Casey: Where are you guys going?

----------

Amber's house: living room

Mouch: Thank you for letting us come. We won't take up much of your time.

Amber: I can't believe you drove all the way out here, just like Sylvie did.

Father: Amber has been through plenty, as you guys know. This is a lot to ask of a kid, and if it was up to me, you wouldn't be here.

Amber: Dad.

Father: But Amber's got a big heart.

Kidd: We can tell. And we're here to support her, not pressure her... We wanted you to be able to make an informed decision, one you can feel good about always. So as the people who know Sylvie the best, we wanted to help you get to know her too.

Violet: And whatever you decide, we get it. And we won't bother you again.

Amber: It's not that I haven't been thinking about all of this, but I can't, like, be a mom. You know?

Casey: We do. And that's why as soon as I heard what these guys were up to, I wanted to join so I could tell you more about the most amazing, caring person I know.

----------

Foster home

Brett: I don't blame Amber for being overwhelmed by all of this. She's only 16.

Patty: It's a lot for a teenager to handle.

Brett: Maybe too much... This might be my last time to see this little beauty.

Patty: Even if it is, I've been doing this a long time, and I know there will be lots of other children who need homes in the future. And you'd be a wonderful mother to any of them.

Brett: Thank you, Patty... Have you given her a name yet?

Patty: No, we've been calling her honey or sweetie, the names we use with any baby who won't be with us long.

Brett: If she were mine, I'd call her Julia after my birth mom.

Patty: It suits her.

----------

Ms. Doreen's practice: waiting room

Herrmann: Hey, excuse me.

Ms. Doreen: Christopher, come in. Come in. Come, please.

Herrmann: Listen, lady, you can't say what you said to me and just leave a guy hanging.

Ms. Doreen: I'm sorry. That was not my intention.

Herrmann: Okay.

Ms. Doreen: Come, please.

Herrmann: Okay.

----------

Ms. Doreen's practice: back room

Herrmann: So what's the deal with this great pain that the universe has in store for me? 'Cause I gotta know.

Ms. Doreen: Let me give you a proper reading. Please, sit... Clear your mind of all thoughts... Let the bad energy dissipate... Now we begin.

Herrmann: All right.

Ms. Doreen: Credit card or Venmo?

Herrmann: What?

Ms. Doreen: It's $75 up front.

Herrmann: I thought this was on the house.

Ms. Doreen: The first reading yesterday was gratis, but today's reading is $75.

Herrmann: No. No. This was a mistake.

Ms. Doreen: Christopher, please.

Herrmann: No. No!

----------

Ms. Doreen's practice: waiting room

Client: Smart move, buddy. For 75 bucks she'll tell you anything you wanna hear.

----------

Brett's apartment: living room

Dylan: Hi.

Brett: Come in. I just need one more second to get ready... Movie's at 3:00, right? This is just the distraction I need right now.

Dylan: I'm sorry, Sylvie, but I can't go.

Brett: What?

Dylan: I've been spinning out about things between us nonstop, and... I hate to say this because I really, really like you, but I think we need to break up.

Brett: I don't understand. I thought things were going really well... Is this about the baby? Because that might not even happen, Dylan.

Dylan: I know. But I can tell just the way you've focused on her that we're at really different places in our lives right now.

Brett: You mean you don't want a family.

Dylan: I do... Someday... But it's not just that... Last time Matt was here, you went MIA on me for a while. And even when we were together, you weren't all there. And now he's back.

Brett: Look, he's here for work, not for me.

Dylan: Are you sure about that? Either way, it's pretty obvious that you never really got over him... Hey, you warned me at the start that you weren't ready for anything serious, and... You were right.

Brett: I'm sorry... I really like being with you, Dylan. You are a great guy.

Dylan: You're pretty great, too, Sylvie... And I hope everything works out with that little girl.

----------

Firehouse: hallway

Carver: I'm glad Casey is here to keep an eye on it with you. He seems to know his stuff.

Kidd: He really does. I can see why DHS has given him the job.

Carver: Yep... How's everything with Severide? That program still going good?

Kidd: Yeah, there's no doubt Kelly loves working arson cases. He's really gotten caught up in that world...

Carver: Yeah.

Kidd: Ah, here he is.

----------

Firehouse: entrance

Kidd: Hey, any news?

Casey: Yeah, a lot of it. DHS is suddenly very interested.

Kidd: What changed their mind?

Casey: The tags on that SUV? Turns out they're registered to a false identity. So the FBI ran the number through this tracking system they have. Those plates turned up in surveillance footage on a different vehicle three weeks ago in Libertyville, within blocks of an unsolved break-in at some power company offices.

Kidd: Whoa.

Casey: Now the FBI thinks it was someone stealing proprietary information about the Northern Illinois electrical grid.

Kidd: So are they gonna raise the threat level?

Casey: Yes, but they still don't know who they're looking for or when they'll strike.

Kidd: I'm gonna spend my shift right here with this scanner. I'm gonna monitor every incident that every CFD company gets called out on.

Casey: I'll join you.

Kidd: Yeah.

Casey: And hey, what's the name of Brett's friend over at the 911 call center?

Kidd: Hannah.

Casey: Yeah. Let's reach out to her, see if she can give us a heads-up on anything suspicious.

Kidd: Smart.

----------

Firehouse: common room

Mouch: That's good.

Herrmann: I mean, can you imagine the look on Cindy's face if she saw that there was a $75 bill for a psychic on the credit card?

Mouch: You'd be out on the street. You made the right call, Herrmann.

Herrmann: Well, I'm glad I went, though. You know, it made me realize, you know, how ridiculous this whole... Ah. Mm.

Gallo: Oh! Great pain, there it is. The prediction came true.

Herrmann: There you go. See? Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

----------

Firehouse: entrance

Mouch: Still nothing from Amber. Brett's starting to lose hope.

Casey: Damn.

Violet: I feel for her. She's had a rough couple of days between this and the breakup with Dylan.

Kidd: We made such a good case with Amber. I really thought she'd call.

Mouch: Me too.

Violet: We did everything we could. And that's what you do for the people you love.

Kidd: Yeah, you are right. You give it everything you have... 51, this is Lieutenant Kidd. Hey. Yeah... Yeah. Yep. Uh-huh... Got it. Thanks, Hannah... Someone just reported smoke coming out of a substation on South Jefferson. They just dispatched Engine 62 to the scene.

Boden: 226 to Main, I will take on that South Jefferson call, along with Truck 81, Engine 51, and Squad 3.

Dispatch: Copy that, 226. It's all yours.

Boden: And, Main, let's roll dry chem and foam suppression units as well.

Kidd: Truck 81, Squad 3, Engine 51, we got a possible fire on 600 South Jefferson Street. Let's move.

----------

Parking

Boden: Hey, you know what happened?

Supervisor: No, I just got here. That transformer's overheating, and I don't know why.

Casey: Chief, you see the damage to the cooling fins? Looks like large-caliber gunfire.

Boden: I got dry chem and foam suppression units en route. They're about 20 minutes out.

Supervisor: We don't have 20 minutes. If that fire spreads to the other banks, the whole substation could go down. We're talking 8 million people in the dark.

Boden: We cannot spray water while that transformer is energized. Can your people shut it down?

Supervisor: I can do it manually from the inside.

Boden: Then do it.

Supervisor: Yes, sir.

Boden: Okay, 51, charge the hose line. Get ready on the deck gun. We're gonna wait for the...

Casey: Get down! Get down!

Kidd: Take cover!

Casey: Shooter is still on the scene!

Boden: Move!

Herrmann: What the hell is going on here?

Boden: Hey! Come here. 10-1, 10-1. We are under fire. There's a sniper in an elevated position. Respond with caution. Everyone stay down.

Casey: Shots are coming from the east... Let's move.

Herrmann: Hey, I can pull the engine forward, shield that gate. That way we can get in there.

Boden: I said, stay down! We have to keep the rigs in between him and us.

Casey: Chief, these are massive, armor-piercing rounds. Even the rigs might not protect us.

Boden: That's all we got. We stay put, wait for PD.

Casey: I see him. He's on a rooftop about a block away.

Supervisor: That's the cooling oil. It's gonna go up fast now.

Casey: Chief, I can get to that rooftop and put an end to this. He can only fire one round at a time. If I can make it to that corner, I can get to him. Then all I have to do is keep him distracted until the police arrive.

Boden: No, you are not armed.

Casey: Chief, we need to get that fire out... All due respect, Chief, but I don't answer to you anymore... I'm going.

Boden: Casey...

Kidd: Chief, he's right. And we can't let him go alone. I'm going with him.

Carver: We'll come too, Lieutenant.

Kidd: Gallo, Carver, bring your irons. Mouch, you gotta stay and work the aerial for me.

Boden: You stay in radio contact, you hear me? Okay? Distract, let the cops take him out. Do not do anything stupid.

Kidd: Copy that. Be ready to attack those flames as soon as I give the all-clear.

Cruz: I can get you guys to the corner. Just stick behind Squad.

Casey: Great. Let's go.

----------

Carver: He has to reload.

Casey: Go now!

----------

Street

Drivers: Watch it! Watch out!

Casey: He's on top of that parking garage. Come on.

----------

Building: stairs

Casey: He'll be at the west end of the roof with his back to us. Be quiet and quick.

Kidd: Okay. Hey, turn down your radios.

Casey: Let's go.

----------

Roof parking

Casey: Fan out, flank the truck, and jump him as soon as he fires the next shot.

Kidd: Get down! Gun is down. Gun is down.

----------

Parking

Boden: Kill that power now. Herrmann, get ready with that water.

Herrmann: Got it. Let's go!

Boden: The shooter is on that rooftop.

----------

Roof parking

Shooter: Forget 'em! We gotta go!

Kidd: Hey! We got one here. The other one's driving down the ramp, blue F-150.

Boden: Lieutenant Kidd, report.

Kidd: We're okay. There were two suspects. One's in custody. The other's in the wind, but it's over.

----------

Parking

Supervisor: Okay. Transformer's de-energized.

Boden: Okay, 51, hit it!

----------

Herrmann: Mouch?

Mouch: Ah. Gah.

Herrmann: Mouch, you okay? Hey! Hey, hey, hey. Hey, Chief! We need an ambulance! Mouch is hit! Easy. Easy, bud. Easy, easy.

----------

Firehouse: common room

Gallo: They don't need to debrief all of us, do they? This is crazy. We should be with Mouch.

Carver: That's the truth.

Herrmann: Yeah, that cuckoo psychic was right on the money. Great pain... Only way to describe what I'm feeling right now... Hell with it, all right? I'm not waiting. Ritter, let's mount up.

Ritter: Copy that, Lieutenant.

Violet: Boden wants us to sit tight. There's nothing we can do at Lakeshore.

Carver: Chief's back.

Herrmann: About time. Talk to us, Chief.

Boden: He's okay.

Herrmann: Oh, thank God.

Gallo: Mouch is okay.

Kidd: He is? Really?

Boden: Didn't get hit with one of them monstrous bullets, just a bit of shrapnel. Doctors were able to remove it, stop the bleeding. Trudy's with him right now. You can all look in on him after shift.

Brett: That's good to hear.

Boden: Uh, they telling you anything in there?

Brett: Hmm.

Kidd: Yes. The guy we caught, spilling his guts in an FBI interrogation room right now.

Casey: Gave up the location of their safe house. They just intercepted the sniper there a few minutes ago.

Kidd: And they're getting lots more info on the rest of the organization. The threat has been neutralized.

Boden: Well done.

Cruz: Hear, hear, you guys. Nice work.

Brett: You guys went to see Amber?

Kidd: Yeah.

Casey: To tell her about you.

Violet: So she'd feel like she could trust you completely.

Brett: She's just called. She's gonna take back custody of the baby.

Violet: Really?

Brett: Yes. I'm gonna adopt Julia.

Herrmann: Congratulations!

Violet: Sylvie.

Kidd: Wow.

Cruz: That's fantastic.

Brett: Thank you... Thank you.

Kidd: Come on.

----------

Firehouse: hallway

Kylie: Hey, Ritter.

Ritter: Hey. Any news?

Kylie: There's so much going on with everyone, so I don't want to make a big deal about it, but I wanted you to know my number was called. I'm going to the Academy.

Ritter: Yeah, you are! Oh. Welcome to the best job in the world. Yeah?

----------

Firehouse: Kidd's quarters

Carver: You moving?

Kidd: No. But I am taking the next few shifts off.

Carver: Yeah? Where are you headed?

Kidd: I'm going to get my husband and bring him back to Chicago.

Lakeshore: Mouch's room

Herrmann: And she is over the moon. And Cruz is almost as happy, keeps talking about how adoption is the greatest thing that could ever happen to a person. And it made me think that had I been able to pick my own kids, maybe I'd have better ones.

Mouch: That's great.

Herrmann: Yeah.

Mouch: Yeah, Sylvie deserves it.

Herrmann: Yeah. Hey, you okay? You're looking a lot paler than when I walked in here.

Mouch: I do?

Herrmann: YYeah.

Mouch: My side is kinda barking at me again.

Herrmann: Yhuh? Mouch... Oh, what the hell is this? Mouch! Hey! Mouch! Hey! Help! Please, we need a doctor in here now! Help, please!

Brett's apartement

Brett: Matt, hi.

Casey: Hey, Sylvie.

Brett: Um, come on in.

Casey: Our first kiss was right here.

Brett: I remember it pretty well.

Casey: So do I... I got something about a year and a half ago, and I wanted to give it to you before I go back to Portland.

Brett: Oh.

Casey: Sylvie Brett, we were meant to be... Will you make me and three kids the luckiest family in the world and marry me?
